The Humane Society of the United States is the nation’s largest and most effective animal protection organization. National Law Enforcement Council<\/h3>\n

To step up its fight against all forms of illegal animal cruelty,
\nThe HSUS has formed its first National Law Enforcement Council,
\ncomprised of current and former law enforcement officers and
\nprosecutors from across the country. The council will assist
\nThe HSUS in strengthening and better enforcing animal
\nprotection laws.<\/p>\n

Chosen For Leadership<\/h3>\n

Members of the national council were chosen for their
\nleadership in protecting animals from neglect, violence,
\nand other crimes.With a particular emphasis on animal
\ncruelty, fighting, and poaching laws, the council brings
\ntogether the best in the law enforcement field to help
\ncombat animal crimes nationwide.<\/p>\n

Member Activities<\/h3>\n

Member activities may include supporting state and federal
\nlegislation that strengthens animal protection laws, promoting
\nanimal protection training opportunities for local law
\nenforcement, and raising awareness of The HSUS’s animal
\ncrimes rewards, tip lines, and other resources.<\/p>\n

Ann Chynoweth, Senior Director of the Animal Cruelty and
\nFighting Campaign for The HSUS, said, “We are honored to
\njoin forces with our National Law Enforcement Council to
\ncombat animal cruelty, fighting, and poaching crimes. By
\nfostering relationships across local, state, and federal
\nlevels of law enforcement and prosecution, we can make
\nmeaningful improvements to policies and actions that
\nprotect animals across the country.”<\/p>\n
